For those who have me on Facebook, chances are you have already seen this rant, but it goes across all platforms and it feels good to just say this so I don't have to repeat myself!
I have a serious beef to pick. I keep seeing people bitch and complain about Muslims and other people who do things they don't like- stereo typing an entire nation based on the actions of the few....these same people go on their FB and also post Pro-Gay pictures and comments, then get offended if someone speaks against the pro-LGTB nation.
What makes one side any better than the other? Are all Muslims bad people? No. Do they have bad people in their religion? Yes- all religions/walks of life do. Have I made the mistake of being ignorant about it? Yes, but I chose to educate myself. Are all LGTB, Christian, Atheist, Jewish, or otherwise people saints? HELL NO. There are people in all walks of life who do shitty things. That does not give you the right (despite what you may think) to discriminate against ANYONE because they have a different belief than you.
I have seen a post floating around FB about Obama making August a nation Muslim or Islam month so lets all roast a pig to celebrate it? Really? Are we at so low of a point in society that we need to reduce ourselves to petty remarks and insults when it comes to this stuff? He made is Muslim or Islam month! Big whoop. There is a month for everything and a celebration for just about any excuse in modern society.
What if he had made August National Gay Pride month? The rainbow flags would go up and people would be cheering, but if someone (who didn't believe in the LGTB movement) said "Let's burn the LGTB flag to celebrate it!" How many people out there would have a horny fit? How many would call that person a discriminating bastard who needs their head kicked in?
How are these two things any different? Seriously people. Discrimination is discrimination. I don't like the lies a lot of religions tell, but do I damn all Christians? No. Use your heads people. Be kind to one another regardless of gender, age, sexual orientation, heritage or religion. The world is screwed up enough as it is, we don't need to perpetuate stereo types and disrespect towards all based on a few.
